Administration and Staff
Dr. Nordgren earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and his master’s and doctorate degrees from Florida State University. His areas of interest include both modern British and modern European literature, and he has published widely about writers such T. S. Eliot, Albert Camus, and Tom Stoppard. Dr. Nordgren joined the faculty of English and Modern Languages in 1991, and after serving as department chair from 2006-2009, he assumed the position of Associate Dean in spring 2009. In October 2015, Dr. Nordgren was appointed Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Dr. Paul Bernazzani, Professor of Chemistry, Interim Associate Dean
Dr. Bernazzani earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Université de Montréal in Canada, He then received his master’s from the Université du Québec à Montréal and his Ph.D. in Biophysics from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivieres. Following a post-doctoral fellowship in Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University, he became a faculty at Lamar in 2003. Having served as Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry since 2010, he joined the team of the College of Arts and Sciences as Interim Associate Dean in June 2016. His current research interests span all areas of macromolecular physics, from plastics to proteins. More information can be found here.
Ms. Kathy Pierce, Executive Assistant
Ms. Pierce is the Executive Assistant in the Dean’s Office of the College of Arts and Sciences. She began working at Lamar University in 1992 as an Administrative Assistant for the Department of Nursing. In 2003, she transferred to the Dean’s office. While at Lamar, she has participated for several years on the Staff Advisory Council, and presently serves on the Texas State University System Staff Excellence Award Selection Committee. A lifetime resident of the Nederland and Beaumont area, Ms. Pierce is active in the LIVESTRONG Organization and Relay for Life.
