Robert J. Robertson teaches the American history survey classes.  He has published two books with Texas A&M University Press: Her Majesty’s Texans: Two English Immigrants in Reconstruction Texas (1998); and Fair Ways: How Six Black Golfers Won Civil Rights in Beaumont, Texas (2005).  He has also published articles about Beaumont on the eve of the Civil War; French homesteaders in the Texas Panhandle; Congressman Jack Brooks and the Civil Rights Act of 1964; World War II Marine Travis Moore; Beaumont educator and banker John Gray; Anglo-Florentine Louisa Catherine Adams Kuhn; Congressman Jack Brooks and federal funding for the Sabine-Neches ship channel; and U.S. District judge Joe Fisher and the Borel asbestos case, in various journals, including the Texas Gulf Historical and Biographical Record, the East Texas Historical Journal, the West Texas Historical Journal, Military History of the West, and the Massachusetts Historical Review.
