MSN Degree Program Description

The Dishman Department of Nursing offers two graduate tracks leading to the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree and one dual track in nursing and business.  Full or part-time study is available in both Nursing Administration and Nursing Education.  Post-Masters certificates in Nursing Education or Nursing Administration are also available. All MSN courses are available online.  


MSN - Nursing Education


The Nursing Education track provides registered nurses with the knowledge and skills necessary to become educators in academic settings.

MSN - Nursing Administration


The Nursing Administration track provides registered nurses with advanced knowledge central to organization, management, leadership, health care policy and economics.

Dual Degree


Lamar University's Graduate Nursing Studies program has partnered with the university's distinguished Business Department to offer this new career opportunity for nurses.


Accreditation: The master's degree program (MSN) is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Initial accreditation for the MSN program was obtained February 24, 2005.
