WAY TO GO LU MOOT COURT!!!

The Lamar Moot Court Team is making its mark thanks to outstanding team members and Coach Craig Tahaney. Lamar University hosted three teams in the 2016 University of North Texas School of Law's Invitational Moot Court Tournament. With the exception of Siara Dodds (left photo, with Coach Tahaney) who received Outstanding First Time Speaker at last year's tournament, the 2016 team members were rookies at this year's event. Even so, Lamar University received several notable accolades. Danelle Sanders (right photo, third from right) ranked first (#1 Speaker) out of 124 student participants and received a scholarship for her first place showing. Danelle's award marked the first time in tournament history that a new student advocate has won the Top Speaker Award. Siara Dodds placed thirteenth out of 124 participant speakers and received an award. In addition to individual accolades, two Lamar teams - Danelle Sanders and Siara Dodds (ranked #17 and an undefeated record) - and Ryan Sherer and Levi Morris (ranked #31) - advanced to the tournament elimination rounds. The LU teams advancing in the tournament were ultimately eliminated by teams from two universities with long histories of tournament participation: University of North Texas and U. S. Air Force Academy.
