Both recipients of 2016 David J. Beck Fellowship have been mentored in the Biology Department. Nicolas Nikoloutsos (2nd from left) will be using his fellowship to conduct research on drug delivery using nanoparticles in Taiwan this summer while Cade Johnson (2nd from right) will conduct research on the cancer lymphoblastic leukemia in Philadelphia.
Lauren Stafford is a senior biology student and 2014 recipient of the Gene Ohmstede Scholarship. She is currently conducting cancer microenvironment research under the direction of Dr. Ian Lian with support from the McNair Scholars Program.
According to Lauren, LU's biology program has helped her achieve academic excellence, providing her with opportunities to serve the community and giving her the chance to lead among her peers. This experience, along with her job as Student Director for the Department of Student Development and Leadership, has helped her become a Cardinal leader and a great candidate for graduate school.
