The Lamar University College of Arts and Sciences aims to be the college of choice in Southeast Texas by providing broad core and outstanding disciplinary education in each student's chosen field and preparing them for citizenship in a rapidly changing world.
Mission Statement
The College of Arts and Sciences is dedicated to developing intellectually curious learners through collaborative research and innovative pedagogy that include high-impact opportunities. We empower students to be effective leaders who make meaningful contributions to society.

Research & Creative Activity

Fall 2023 Events
Flip the Script - Leadership, Community, & Communication
Event held November 9, 12:45 - 1:45 in Maes 106. This event featured Gen Z students talking to faculty about how best to reach the youngest generation of college students.
Grant Writing Panel - Research & Creative Activity
Event held October 30, 1:00-3:30 in the Science Auditorium. This even featured faculty from the College of Arts and Sciences giving talks about applying for grants and submitting publications. The panels were led by Dr. Thomas Sowers and Dr. Sanaz Alasti. Dr. Phil Cole, Dr. Jeff Forret, Dr. Ginger Gummelt, Dr. Matt Hoch, Ms. Gretchen Johnson, Dr. Xingya Liu, Dr. Elizabeth Long, Dr. Sylvestre Twagirayezu, and Dr. Ruthie Robinson participated in the panel discussion. Opening Remarks were made by Dr. Jerry Lin, Associate Provost for Research.
